The Seismic and Reservoir Technology Department seeks

Research Scientists - full waveform inversion and CSEM specialists

We are looking for two ambitious and innovative research scientists to join our seismic team at SINTEF Petroleum Research.

About the department:

The Seismic Group is part of the Seismic and Reservoir Technology Department, where we develop integrated solutions. In addition we collaborate with other departments of SINTEF Petroleum Research, such as Formation Physics and Basin Modelling. We also co-operate with the Dept. of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics at NTNU, thus offering opportunities to work within a large and broad geophysics group at SINTEF/NTNU in Trondheim.

The Seismic Group develops new methods for processing seismic data in acoustic, elastic and anisotropic media. To meet the evolving needs of the petroleum industry we are expanding our activities to include the joint inversion of seismic, gravimetric, magnetic and CSEM data. We anticipate a growing level of activity in this area in the coming years as we aim for a leading position in the international arena.

Qualifications:

We seek two candidates with university education (preferably Ph.D) within geophysics, physics or mathematics. The ideal candidates will have several years of experience with full waveform inversion and/or CSEM. They should have excellent skills in scientific programming and numerical analysis.

Petroleum industry experience will be appreciated.

For this position excellent communication skills as well as the ability to cooperate are very important. The successful applicants will be expected to work and think independently while remaining an open-minded team player.
